An NBA player getting a triple-double is still a rare feat. Two players doing that in the same game? You’ve already reached true rare-air territory. But two teammates doing it in the same game when both players hit the 30-point plateau? Okay, that’s never been done before in any game in the 76-year history of the league. And then Wednesday night happened. The Nuggets‘ top two stars, Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray, each posted 30-point triple-doubles as Denver comfortably beat the Heat in Miami to take a 2-1 series edge in the NBA Finals Wednesday night. Jokic (32 points, 21 rebounds, 10 assists) and Murray (34-10-10) combined to score more than 60% of the Nuggets’ points in their 109-94 win. Jokic also notched his third 30-20-10 career postseason game. In the history of the NBA there have only been five such games, and two of the all-time greats — Wilt Chamberlain and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar — account for the other two. Miami, for its part, stayed close in the first half before Denver used a 29-20 third quarter to take a 14-point lead to open the final frame. The Heat managed to cut it to single digits, but the never really threatened the Nuggets. Miami will have a chance to even the series on Friday when it hosts Game 4 before the series shifts back to Denver for Game 5 on Monday.
