Piers Morgan has reached out to Susanna Reid after she was kicked in the head by Ed Balls on ITV Good Morning Britain.Piers was quick to take a cruel swipe at Ed, the former Labour Party MP, after he accidentally kicked Susanna in the head live on the show on Wednesday.
Piers took to the social media platform X – formerly known as Twitter – to take a brutal dig at the former politician.
The former newspaper editor and journalist – who left ITV for TalkTV – wrote: “Even I never did that to you, @susannareid100 …” The furore unfolded earlier this week when GMB aired a debate on public transport etiquette and chose to illustrate the issue using four mocked-up plane seats.
Susanna and Ed were joined by Daily Mirror’s political journalist Kevin Maguire for the show.
Balls sat behind Reid and next to the Daily Mail political journalist Andrew Pierce as Susanna said: “Is it OK for Ed and Andrew then to …” Mr Balls then wung both his feet on to her headrest, accidentally clipping her on the head in mortifying scenes.
“Oooh…” she said as Ed apologised and said: “I just caught your head, I’m sorry.” Susanna said: “I think we’ve decided it’s not OK. here we go.
That was … I don’t know if I can carry on doing the programme.
That’s our debate this morning.
“Should you put your feet up on the seats of public transport?” Ed then took responsibility and said “hands up” after Susanna revealed that her eyesight “went blurry for 20 minutes” after the kick.
ITV GMB tweeted the clip and wrote: “You’ve paid for your ticket – whether it’s a plane trip or train ride, why shouldn’t you get comfy?
“But is it ever okay to put your feet up on the seat?
@edballs might have answered that already.”
