A Renfrewshire pub has been put on the market by liquidators after it recently shut down after 18 years in the business.George Lafferty and Barry Stewart of Leonard Curtis have instructed Shepherd Chartered Surveyors to offer the long-established River Inn at Crosslee for sale.
The liquidators were appointed on December 13 to wind up the operations of R J Hotels Limited.
The previous management shut the venue’s doors for the final time on Sunday, November 26.
A statement by R J Limited director and head chef at the venue Jason Andrews on the business’s website reads: “It is with a heavy heart that I confirm The River Inn has ceased trading and closed its doors on Sunday, November 26 after a packed final service.
“I want to thank all the staff, customers and suppliers for their support over the years especially during and after the Covid pandemic.
“From our team, my family and I, we wish you all the best for the future.
It has been a pleasure to serve the local and surrounding communities.
“Hopefully a new owner can be found soon and a relaunch in 2024.” The country restaurant and bar offered a Sunday carvery, sports bar, Indian food, street van and a beer garden all in the one venue.
The substantial restaurant and bar are contained within a large detached two-storey building of part-traditional and part-modern construction.
The original section of the property was built as a coaching house in the nineteenth century and has been extended in more modern times, principally around the 1960s/1970s, with further extensions in the late 1990s.
There is also spacious car parking to the side and rear together with a large, landscaped terrace/beer garden.
Gary Louttit, head of hospitality & Leisure at Shepherd, said: “As well as offering a long-established popular country restaurant and bar with limited local competition, the property and site also offer an attractive opportunity for alternative development, including residential.” Offers in excess of £850,000 are invited.
Anybody interested in the business opportunity is asked to contact the sole selling agent on 0141 331 2807.
