As much as we try our best to pay attention when cooking, within a matter of seconds things can boil over – quite literally. Whilst it may just seem like water, it can sometimes cause a mess And when you’re cooking – especially for more than one person – it’s the last thing you need. Thankfully there’s a hack that can stop this from happening and it requires one item that you probably have right beside you on your stove. Taking to Instagram to share the hack Morgan – @verycrunchymama – showed a video of the trick that takes seconds. All you have to do is brush oil around the inside rim of your pot, this way, the water shouldn’t be able to spill over the top. This works because oil and water don’t mix, as we know. When you do this, you place a barrier around the rim of the pot to stop it from boiling over. In response to the video, many found it helpful commenting: “You’ve got to be kidding me? How do I not know this?” Another said: “Lay a wooden spoon across the top too, and it won’t boil over” although some said that it didn’t work for them. “I learn something new from you everyday I swear” a third wrote.
